The Way Forward

The Way Forward

I’ve done a lot of things with this blog ever since beginning it just over three years ago: posting every week, posting every two weeks, every month, and then NOT. AT. ALL. For far too long. The reason for that inconsistency is largely that I got off track and then never got back on. Fell off the horse, so to speak. I kept wanting to blog, I kept wanting to share my thoughts and views with all of you … but in order move forward and do current posts, I felt the need to work from the back-forward and catch up with myself.

Wrong idea. Oh-so-very wrong idea.

The problem with that is if you write from your furthest date back, then you’re just creating more of a backlog because you’re not keeping up with the present. This kind of thinking/struggling/trying went on for more than TWO YEARS as I continued to fail and fail. Finally, now, I think I’ve actually learned something:

I need to write FORWARD. Novel idea, huh? Start with the current stuff, and then piece-by-piece add in the posts-from-the-past that are planned, half-written, and stuff I want to comment on but is date-specific. I don’t want to let them go, but they certainly need to not be my first priority. My first priority needs to be concentrating on posting for the present.

So, from here on out, I will promise you several things:

One, I’m going to *try* to write one post a week, maybe more if something inspires me (like these several posts that are all happening as NaNoWriMo begins and I return to blogging).

Two, I very well may fail at that, because I’m not always great at being on a schedule. I’m not even sure yet if I’m going to have a specific day to post; we’re just going to see how it goes, because I’m trying to learn how to cultivate a schedule and stick with it. I need to make blogging a habit first, and then I’ll see where best to fit it into my life and “real” writing.

Three, I still have posts from the past I want to create. So every now and then, you will see an addition to a month that didn’t exist there before, but it will be postdated with the original time period because many of them are time-specific and won’t make sense otherwise. Or, I’m using them to track my life and writing journey, and they still won’t make sense without the proper date.

Please just bear with me as I get my life, writing, and blogging back into action. I very much look forward to thinking and working on this blog without all the stress and overwhelming emotions that come with not doing it “properly,” not following through it it. It’s time to make it right. It’s time to find my way forward!

Thanks for all your understanding and support.
