Back to Blogging

Holy crow. I don’t know where the last two years have gone, but I know what I was NOT spending them doing: blogging. I’ve wanted to, believe you me. You should see my Scrivener “Blog” project file with all the half-written (or even fully-written-but-out-of-sequence) posts and ideas I’ve accrued. But I got off track and didn’t want to move forward until I had caught up with the backlog.

Where did that leave me? Further and further behind as my primary energies were spent writing the first (real) draft of my novel.

Great plan, self!

So, now I’m going to try a different tactic. I’ve been having trouble the past few months even sticking to a consistent book-writing schedule—some health problems have cropped up and taken over my life—so obviously I haven’t been able to kickstart weekly blogging again, much less catch up on old posts. So, instead, I’m going to aim to write at least one blog post per month. That will get me back in the swing of things without feeling too pressured, will keep me communicating with all of you, and may actually give me time to catch up on the posts from days past I’d love to get out, even if no one reads them but me.

This blog has always had several purposes: to discuss my writing life, to hopefully grow a future reading audience, and to discuss things in the world that I find amazing and inspiring (seeking my “wonderlife” and hopefully helping you to find yours). Having a record of some great things I’ve experienced, or some encouraging advice I’ve come across—or even the struggles that I’ve had to overcome in this writing life—is important to me.

But what’s more important is moving forward and not staying stuck in the past. Writing something as opposed to nothing because I haven’t been able to stick to a weekly schedule. Rediscovering my voice and having fun using it.

So, here we go! Blog Take 2: Penning the Wonderlife Redux. Thanks for sticking with me on my journey. I hope you’ll be hearing plenty from me in the future. 😀
